First Mondays: Demo Night

Join club members for a demonstration night on the First Monday of each month where a respected external demonstrator is hosted by club founder Martin Saban-Smith RPT for a (roughly) three hour meeting.

Like our club nights, demonstrations are hosted in the Zoom environment, and where permitted by the demonstrator, the meeting will be streamed into our Facebook group and recorded for a 7 day watch-back period. For the best experience, all members are encouraged to join in Zoom even if their camera and mic is turned off.

Meeting Start: 7pm (UK)
Demo Start: 7.30pm
Links to the Zoom meeting are emailed to all members 24-48 hours prior to the demonstration, and posted in the club Facebook group a few hours before the start time. Occasionally, the day or time differs. If the date or time is different, members are given (generally) months of notice.

Bonus Demos!!

From time to time, Martin may also present bonus demonstrations or meetings at other times during the month. This could be during the day, or in the evening – whenever his time allows!
They could focus on a series of demos surrounding the making of a single piece, Member requests or whatever he fancies turning!
These demos will be broadcast directly into the Facebook group for immediate viewing, or reviewing later.

Depending on time, links to the Zoom meeting are emailed to all members 48 hours prior to the demonstration, and posted in the club Facebook group a few hours before the start time. Occasionally, these bonus demos and meetings may be very short notice.

Third Monday: Club Meeting

Third Monday night is club night! All members are invited to join the monthly Zoom meeting on the Third Monday of each month. Activities will include:

  • Show and Tell your woodturning work
  • Regular challenges
  • Advice clinic
  • Member Spotlight
  • Member demonstrations
  • Invited speakers or other guests

Facebook Group

All meetings will be streamed Live from Zoom (subject to permission from the demonstrator on the first Monday meeting) into the Facebook group so if you miss out on a place in Zoom, you can still watch Live in the group. Third Monday discussion meetings will remain visible in the group forever, but demonstration meetings presented by external professionals will be removed after 7 days.

The Woodturning360 Team will review the posts in the Facebook group and invite members to contribute to the next Tuesday meeting (if they want to) to present and discuss their work in the post.
Members will also be asked what they would like to discuss in the forthcoming meetings.
