I think this is probably called a sculptural piece. It’s influenced by the work of Mark Sanger who has a lot of Japanese influence in his work. It’s made from cherry which is a very prominent tree in Japan and the base is walnut, the colouring is Chestnut Ebonising Lacquer and it’s finished with Chestnut Acrylic Satin lacquer.
Lovely idea for Asian challenge I still need to think of something different like this ?
