In Guernsey, the island where I was born and live, there is a local seafood delicacy called an ormer. It’s a kind of abalone and is absolutely delicious. Due to heavy over fishing in the 70s then ormer is now protected and the gathering of them restricted to certain times of year. My son and I forage for them on the permissable tides and we think of them as quintessentially Guernsey. I have made a few of the shells into jewellery stands for this month’s challenge.
